Feeling guilty.

Hello everybody.

Yes, yes... I know. I said that I would post every day and during the first week of its life I fail my word not one, but two times. I'm the worst one. The big problem is that I can't do many things, I have little money, and I spent my time doing little or nothing. Yesterday my girl neither worked. It should be a great thing, but It mean less money to spent, but don't talk about pay the rent...

We thought to go at RAF Museum, but it would be to go pretty far, and transport in London is as expansive as rent. Therefore we cancel the excursion by now, although we will go some day in the future. Finally we didn't go out of home. We finished a TV show the day before yesterday -"Orange is a new black", if you haven't seen you should- and yesterday we began a new one. It's named "The Killing" and there is who consider it like the new "Twin Peaks". I personally think what that is a really easy comparison. Both talk about the murder of a young girl in Seattle, but the show isn't bad.

This morning I had an appointment  in my job center because I try to claim the "Jobseeker's Allowance" and there was a problem with my information. The problem was I claimed the wrong benefit and I have to go back tomorrow. The woman in there give a form to fill with my personal information and I have to give her back.

Then, when we was going to cook, the kitchen wasn't working. I am afraid in case the gas, which works with a Pay As You Go -for the spaniards, like pre-paid phones-, was over. Yes, one of the advantages that this house had was bills included, but it wasn't completely truth, Really it was "bills included while the money paid for gas and electricity wasn't over". If the gas is done, it has happened in the worst situation because today are living here only us, at least legally -there are a pair of girls using two of my housemates' rooms while they are on a trip. And if the Pay as you go is paying we without the landlord's intervention I will have to paid all the amount and wait until they arrive to refund me the money... I don't know what I can do. By now, we will cook only in the oven -it isn't a great thing, if set the heath more than 150ºC then there is a power cut... Home Sweet Home-.

Otherwise, this afternoon I worked in a university practice which I have to present in two weeks and little more. I should make some friends, I'd prefer that they aren't  Spanish, to improve my English, but right now I don't care pretty much, I'd like to have someone to do something when we, my girl and I, don't have anything  to do... Yes, I need a job too and run away this house.

Crossing fingers.

See ya, and sorry about my absence -again-.

Wasted time

Hello everybody!

Today I don't have many things to tell you. It isn't a productive day, but I committed to write everyday and I'm here to fulfill my word.

Today my girl haven't to work, and in the morning we wake up later. I saw gumtree looking for vacancies, but there isn't many, I guess because is saturday. Even so, I applied in two or three instead. And we spent the rest of the morning doing nothing.

In the afternoon, after launch time -Spanish launch time, after midday- we went to other meeting with the group of board gamers. England is out, therefore the date isn't cancelled. My girl isn't confortable, and she didn't want to play, so I could play one game -in a game named Concordia, I placed in second position- while she took a walk. When I end I went to Trafalgar Square, where she was, and we walked from there to Tottenham Court Road, we took the tube -it's the informal name for underground- and came home.

I told you,  I have little to say, but well, I hope to have more stories tomorrow.
Good night!

First interview

Hello everybody!

Yes Sir! The title of the post is absolutely right. Today I've had my first interview. It wasn't in a IT company, but less is nothing. It was in a restaurant, not an ordinary restaurant. It was a restaurant named Oblix -I don't know if it is famous-, which is placed in the 32nd floor of the Shard,  a skyscraper  located in the same London Bridge. I think that I've never been so high, and I must say that, from up there, the view is awesome. You can see the whole city. The first time that I've seen the Big Ben since I arrived is from those windows -and the first time that I see London Eye, because it didn't exist yet-.

But no only the view nor the situation make the restaurant a place out of the ordinary, at less for me, the vacancy which i was applying was the key. I was applying to neither a bartender nor waiter position. Neither was to kitchen porter position. Neither was to chef -Nobody wants a kitchen burned-, nor sumiller -I've never opened a bottle the wine-, nor maître -I would be the first one who never was waiter-, of Course not. The job which I was applying was "bathroom attendant". Yes. I guess that the name says everything, but if not, I explain you with pleasure.

A bathroom attendant is that who, probably all of you, had seen on many films. Is a person who stand in the bathroom, attending the customers when they go to the toilet, supporting in all they needed. Usually the bathrooms, in the films, which have this kind of service, are bathrooms placed in luxury restaurants, or hotels. I would hate sound racist, but the image which come to my mind is a black man, in the 20's, providing towels to the customers, probably cologne too. When the customers go out, and this is not showed in the films, because the bathroom attendant never is the star -this pleasure is reserved for the customers, not for the service, with the exception of some and privileged butlers, or chefs-, the polite and servicial worker must have clean and tidy the bathroom, also he have to replenish the soap and the paper roll, as well as to empty the bins.

Finishing, I'd like to apologize for my absence yesterday. I want to write a post everyday and I want to obey me to it. I know that you, if there is someone who reads it, don't care if a update or not. This site isn't very interesting, I know too, but whatever I'd like to commit to updating this blog at least one time each day, and if I fail doing it, I will apologize. I'll apologize to you and to myself.

A girlfriend's day off

Hello everybody!

Today is my girlfriend's day off. She's working in a pub -at least one of us found a job- and her job is really hard. In addition, she doesn't have a pair of shoes good enough and she has the aching feet. However, we went to buy this morning some stuffs that we needed and in the afternoon we arranged to meet with a friend and her daughter, but the child was sick and ended up taking a walk in Victoria Park.

This morning, before we went to buy, I applied to some jobs, but today didn't receive calls. It's strange, the latest days I used to receive two or three calls, but today no one. A bad day, maybe because I sent CV more late than usually, maybe I sent less than other days, or maybe the cover letter that my brother aided me to write -really he wrote everything- don't be liking. I don't know.

Besides, about yesterday's meeting, in that thing about boardgames, it wasn't good. I went there, with a little amount of CV to give to commerces in the zone;
and I arrived some time early, with the purpose of taking a walk around place's environments looking for stores or cafes or anywhere what they could need someone to work, and when I arrived to the pub where we met it was full of football fans -England was playing- and the meeting was cancelled. The place was supposedly booked, but football wins boardgames. It's a universal truth. Although England was out of the competition since last week, although England had done worse performance than Spain -witch is saying something-. Not Sir, Even so, football wins boardgames.

Therefore, I took the chance to follow my walk and look for more places to drop my CV. I didn't see a lot of them, and I my overall feeling was to have wasted my time, without listening nor reading nor speaking English in the whole afternoon. When I get tired to walking I take a bus and went to home. I saw some chapters of Misfits, I played some games in Hearthstone -don't worry, I play with the game voices in English- in compensation to have not play boardgames and wait to my girl arrived to home.

See ya!

Working to work.

Hello everybody!

One day more here, one day more to look for a job, to practice my English and to spend enormous amount of money in a really expansive city. One day more to write news of my life to somebody who wants read about it.

Well, after two weeks looking for job in a unsuccessful way I haven't lost my faith. I still looking for a job. Yesterday I received a few of calls, but due to my amazing communication skill I can't achieve an interview, but is not a terrific thing. I could hold the calls more time than last week calls. It's something. As I can't wait to receive a call that I could understand I have to look for jobs outside IT industry. This isn't a problem to me, I count on it. Really I was applying in ordinary jobs besides IT ones, but if IT recruiters call me and I don't understand them, with reminder those not even receive calls, but well, I don't lose hope yet.

However, today I'm going to walk by the street look for some jobs in situ. Dropping an impoverished CV in each pub or restaurant that I saw, specially if they have a vacancy cartel. I need to found something early or I can't hold my life here. Please, wish me luck!

Then I have a meeting with a group of people who like playing board games. I found them on a site -meetup.com- and I went to a meeting the last tuesday. I thought that is a good way to meet people and chat with them -practice, practice and more practice- and  at the same time having fun, knowing new games and making friend with a common hobby.

King regards!

Greetings from London!

Hello everybody.

First of all, I Introduce myself. I'm a Software Developer -oh great! another IT blog...- Really not. Yes I'm an IT guy with a blog and probably sometimes speak about my job, but I promise you, this is NOT another IT blog. This is a personal blog about my life and my experiences like emigrant and the adventures that I'll live in this great city known as London.

Yes, I'm an another Spanish one who has had to leave of his country to look for fortune and recognition.  As most of people in Spain my English skill is not quite good. My first impression was to be lost. I understood nothing that I heard. Yes, I knew that my English wasn't perfect, but I hoped to can deal with it. Well, when people said me slowly, I understood much better and it calmed me down.

Well, I have been here for two weeks and I don't understand everything yet, of course, and I still have problems with the listening, but step by step I go forward. But listening isn't the only thing that i need to improve. I have many mistakes when I speak or write in English -please, dear reader, if you have seen any one, say it!-. And when I'm reading I need to use the dictionary more than I would like, but I'm not give up, and I will improve my English every day.

Therefore I start this activity today, with the expectation, with your aid, to have less grammar mistakes and more vocabulary over time.
